Single’s Guide To Surviving Valentine’s Day!

Single’s Guide To Surviving Valentine's Day!

Hafsa Ayubi

Here’s what to remember so February 14th can be a memorable one!

DON’T let Valentine’s define you!

While, yes, it’s the day of love, there are still many ways to enjoy it without a significant other. This day can be shared with those you love, like a close friend or family member. Don’t let the definition of love only be subjected to romance. Take the time to appreciate the ones you love rather than eternally shriveling up inside when you see a couple. Trust me I’ve spent enough years doing it to know it’s not a great idea.

DO try new activities!

Even if all your friends are busy on Valentine’s Day, it’s a perfect opportunity to take time for yourself. From a spa day to a movie date for yourself, there are many ways to spend the day getting pampered. This is just a short list!

Spa night! Grab some face masks, cut some cucumbers, and relax.

Movie night! Check some showtimes and get popcorn– you don’t even need to share it.

Treat yourself! Chocolate heals the soul, and from the wise words of Miley Cyrus, you can indeed buy yourself flowers.

Finally, DON’T forget that it’s okay to be alone!!!

Yes, being single may feel like the end of the world, but there are many ways to make this day for you. Create memories that will spark smiles in the future; think of it like a long-term investment. Stay at home eating ice cream or spend time at Target buying the last discount chocolate. They always have good deals after holidays. Most importantly make sure you love yourself. Treat yourself with respect and patience. You deserve the world and the right to enjoy this day more than anyone else.
